For those who just can't wait for Mardi Gras, there's Pardi Gras.
A multi-day festival in January, it includes a pub crawl, Jimmy Buffett-style bands and a tropical-attired crowd that just can't seem to get enough bar time. The site: New Orleans. Of course.
The 2012 event was Jan. 12-15. Yes, that's right after the Alabama-LSU BCS National Championship game. Talk about a party! And the 2013 event is Jan. 17-20.
Regular stops include Margaritaville Cafe, the Tropical Isle and Papa Joe's Beach Club. Parrothead clubs from across the country are part of the participants. There are people from 20+ states. Jimmy Buffett's Radio Margaritaville even have live broadcasts on Friday and Saturday nights. Combine this with the usual revelry of New Orleans and you've got a PARDI!
The main events are:
• The Pardi Gras Bourbon Street pub crawl, Jan. 18, 5-6 p.m.
• The crowning of the Pardi-Gras Queen and King, Jan. 18 at Topical Isle #2, Broubon at Orleans, 7:45 p.m.
• Parti Gras Parade, Jan. 18, Bourbon Street, 8-9 p.m.
• Bourbon Street Block Party. Jan. 19, 700 block of Bourbon Street, Noon-5:30 p.m.
For more information, photos and to take part in this revelry, visit the event's official website, www.Pardi-Gras.com.

One of the (many) highlights is a parade down Bourbon Street.

Who could pass on checking out her pass?

She passes, definitely.

The Tropical Isle is crazy anyway, then mix in these Parrotheads...

Bring on Bourbon Street – time for a pub crawl!

Parrotheads party for Pardi Gras on the streets where Buffett got his start.

You know things get crazy when this happens at Cafe Du Monde.
