There is relaxation on Ibiza's beaches – and wild times, too.
Ibiza. Just the sound of the place makes one's sould shake with excitement.
And no wonder – it has all the things single travelers desire – hot scene on the sand, clear blue water to cool off, spring break-style bars on the beach, spectacular sunsets – and more single traveleres.

Being an island splashed in sunshine, Ibiza has plenty of sand spots to enjoy. The most popular are Playa d'en Bosa, just south of the main town, and Las Salinas.

Peaceful but also a party – Ibiza's beaches offer it all to its many visitors.
Playa d'en Bosa stretches, it seems, to Gibraltar. It is lined with some 50 bars, including the popular Bora Bora. The beach is right under the flight path for the airport, which the bars counter by cranking up the music to nighttime noise levels.

There's no worring about tan lines at Las Salinas beach.
Las Salinas is the place to avoid tan lines. People lay out topless or go totally nude. It's a cool beach to visit and is about a 15-minute cab ride. Go to the Sa Trinxa part of the beach at the end. They have "micha the violinist" playing to the DJ's house music. Very cool.
Figueras Beach is a small but sandy place to crash.
For those just looking for a sandy place to crash, Ibiza Town's playa is Figueras. It's small, though, and fills up quickly.
Formentera Beach (Pujols) is absolutely gorgeous. It is NOT a party beach, but is absolutely beautiful. It was the bluest water one can imagine.
Wake up early one day and go over. The ferry (37 Euros, R/T, yes cash only) from the Ibiza port is 35 minutes. From there, take the bus to Pujols Beach.

The beach scene ends at around 7. But this is Ibiza, and the party is just beginning. Kenya Bar in San Antonio is the post-sandspot to seek. It is wildly popular, due in large part to its music, which combines a rich and hip passionate tropical sound with a cool European trans-mix beat. Kenya Bar has a pool overlooking the ocean where some women prefer to remain topless. It's also a great place to catch up with friends lost during the day or to meet up with that special someone with whom one might have been socializing earlier.
San Antonio also sports a string of other beach bars. Known as the "Sunset Strip," it's highlighted by the Cafe del Mar, famous for watching the beautiful sunset. Sunsets don't occur until 10 in the heart of summer, so at about 9, people head back to the hotel for a shower and clothes change, then to Cafe del Mar, or rest up until hitting the Bourbon Street bars at around 11 for pre-partying.
A good preparty bar is Dome for its interesting crowd, if nothing else.
Ibiza Beachin' Tips!
• Make sure you have cash.
• See the Sunset in San Antonio at Cafe Del Mar. Its gorgeous. Get there for 7:30/8pm to get a spot. The cab is about 20Euro from Ibiza town.
• Walk around Ibiza Town. It has cool little cobblestone streets.
• Drinks are expensive, but not as much as in the clubs
• People called flyerers have flyers for the various clubs, and it's about 10 Euros cheaper to buy in advance than at the door. |
